Toy Tonics is back with an EP by indie disco producer and DJ David Bay.

The four-tracker „Mixed Signals“ is reminiscing the sound of the 2010s: Drums with a touch of 80s, synths that are silky-soft, bass-lines that walk you through the song and sounds that were chopped they almost seem sampled. (But no samples in these tracks!). Some people might remember UK artists such as Les Rhythmes Digitales or even Fatboy Slim, but also Chromeo or Breakbot when listening to these tracks. Yes, in fact: this sound is coming back now. Big time. And Toy Tonics being always a bit ahead of the wave is serving the right tunes.

David’s music is sun-drenched, inevitably positive and in the best way accessible. Always on the verge between Disco, House and Indie - He’s playing bass-guitar, keys, organic drums and pairs them with clubby and edgy sounds. We're going for that place between retro and future, analog and digital, easy and uplifting, … You coming?

David is not new in the scene: he started off in music with his band Pool, when they were still kids - from playing at their schools they rapidly evolved to playing festivals such as SXSW, Melt! and toured with some of the biggest names in Indie Music, like The 1975. And he has collaborated with artists from any genre. For Toy Tonics he helped to produce a band that released an album some years ago: The Phenomenal Handclap Band. he did the song „Do What You Like“ and the single „Television“ on Toy Tonics, but he also worked with dance artists such as Kapote and Solomun.

After contributing the mixes and productions for other people’s projects for quite some time, David felt the need to express himself through music with his very own alias. He started a label, Zissou Records, with his best friend DJ Dreams and released the first bunch of edits and original tracks on the imprint. Most recently, David released a remix on Bordello A Parigi from Amsterdam and a feature with Digitalism on Future Disco from London.

The vocals on this EP come from vocalist Rita. Sometimes it is only distant bits, like on „Reverse Engineer“, and sometimes it is a straightforward hook, like on „I Don’t Need A Reason To“.
